If you want to attract termites to your home one way to do that is to leave loose timber laying around the house. On the other hand, if you don't want termites the best preventative measure is to keep your garden clear of:

  • Railway sleepers

  • Timber pallets

  • Cut offs such as pine

  • Other wood products

  • Ensure you don't have untreated wood stacked against the house

  • Do not store firewood near foundations or in crawl spaces

  • Install termite barriers

  • Divide water away from the property so as not to make a moist area for termites to set up home

  • Reduce moisture and humidity in crawl spaces

Contract a professional pest inspector on an annual basis to check for termites
